From Ink to Pixels: How Social Media is Changing PR and How to Adapt with It

Ink has been used as a slang term for publicity for many years. It first was used to refer to print publicity—write arounds, quotes or feature stories published in any paper and ink medium—but grew to include all types of media exposure. As the public turns more and more to online sources for information, ink no longer applies and should be replaced with something more appropriate, like pixels. And those that work to get more pixels for their clients must also replace old strategies with new ones, ones that focus on social media networks.

As a small or medium sized business advertiser, bravely trying your hand at search engine marketing, you may feel somewhat comforted by Yahoo!’s new Terms and Conditions.  Your getting a warm and cozy feeling knowing that Yahoo! is going to look out for you and your business. Maybe your campaign isn’t getting as many sales as you would like, or maybe it is and your entirely comfortable with your current campaign. Either way, it doesn’t really matter.

The Future of Social Media

Everyone knows the social media atmosphere is constantly evolving. Within the past year hundreds of different networks, applications, and add-ons have come onto the social scene expanding social media into the monster that it is today. The interesting thing is, social media has only begun and has many evolutionary years ahead before it is finished. The entertaining thing is, we have so called “social media experts” and “social media professionals” ready with all the answers to something that has only hit mainstream in the past few years.

NYC Goes Google Maps

In partnership with Google, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg announced today that NYC will be launching a new website an information center. This center will be located at 810 Seventh Avenue, between 52nd and 53rd and will make it easier for both residents and tourists to explore and map out the city.

New CEO=New Hope for Yahoo?

Early last week Yahoo announced their replacement for departing CEO and co-founder, Jerry Yang.  Carol Bartz, former Autodesk CEO, has been tapped to take the helm of the struggling Yahoo and has been tasked with trying to turn around the company’s fortunes.
