Building A Social Brand

Written by Tarla | February 27th, 2009 |

The concept of branding is nothing new. I first learned about it right after college when I was hired by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra as their Ticketing Services Manager. The organization had just gone through a major branding overhaul via a consulting firm, changing the logo, website and most fascinating to me at the time, style fonts and color scheme. It had never occurred to me the impact that those design elements have on the public’s ability to remember and recognize your brand.  I remember someone pointing out the blue and yellow of blockbuster and how identifiable those 2 simple colors became in relation to their company. In fact, I was so influenced by the concept of branding through design that I am now known for my super OCD tendencies towards “fine-tuning” every document that comes across my desk into the company approved fonts, colors and don’t even get me started if someone uses the wrong logo!

Hispanics are Leaving the Country… Online

Written by Sarah | February 27th, 2009 |

Did you know that 7 out of the 10 top indexing sites reaching U.S. Hispanic adults who prefer Spanish (comScore) are non-U.S.-based? Check out MediaPost’s Engage: Hispanics blog for the full list of sites. Popular portals like Univision and Telemundo have substantial global competition. The blog and comments discuss how this is in part due to a relative lack of quality Spanish-language content on U.S. sites, but also that international sites give Hispanics an opportunity to connect with their country of origin, whether it be through a social forum or a local newspaper.

Written by Crystal | February 26th, 2009 |

If you haven’t noticed, Google updated their algorithm recently and it seems that more emphasis is being placed on branding terms. Aaron Wall at SEO Book did an excellent write-up on the subject. Since this is his research, I won’t discuss much here; instead I encourage you to read his full post.
