Ad Tech San Francisco / Travel

Posted on April 29th, 2009 in Shows and Events by Alex

Here is a quick recap of recent travels:

Ad Tech San Francisco: Always a good show, I would say attendance was down slightly but not too noticeable. The buzz was similar to recent shows; mobile, local, behavioral, attribution. The best part is seeing folks in the industry and getting to get behind the scenes on what the folks in the trenches are up to, and the views from the top of San Fran’s hotels are one of the best places to catch up.

Twitter was of course all the rage of the conference with a nice tweet deck set up (mostly so people could post a tweet and watch for it to appear). Of course I obliged.

One new feature was ADSPACE which was devoted to folks making a living through AdSense. My cousin, Chris Raimondi, gave a great talk on making this work for you.

Super Joe Kavich and the Superpages Team were actively marketing their new super guarantee; essentially if a consumer registers an appointment with one of their advertisers they will “guarantee” the service and help mediate any disputes. They are also actively marketing some new direct response programs that should be music to any local business owners needs.

A real highlight of this trip was a visit to Google’s SF office. This marks my third Google office and this one definitely has the best view. We were joined from the great folks at Starz (yes that is with a Z) and Westwood College for a meet and greet with our Google Agency Team. Great food as always.

But let’s get real; AdTech is really about the party. But when you get a bit older (this was my 6th? SF AdTech) you have to pick your spots.

We decided to take a tour of Sonoma in a 14 person limo.

I’ll call the trip a success, and poor me I had to go speak at a conference in Vegas so the traveling wasn’t finished….

Wynn Hotel at Sunset. Good way to wrap up a solid week.

Can’t believe you took a blurry picture after just the first tasting! Looks like we need to do this more often, so you can practice a bit more… Anyhow – thanks for everything! It was lots of fun!

Great fun all around! I’m so happy that you all were able to come to the SF office, and the trip to Sonoma goes down in the books as the first annual Location3 Media’s Sonoma event. What a great group of people!

Alex, thanks for pulling it all together and hosting a great trip. I hope we’ll all get together again soon.
