How to Estimate the Value of Links

Every week an employee from Location3 thinks of a search marketing question and quizzes everyone in the company via email. These quizzes started out as a way to brainstorm blog topics but have grown to become a way to educate all of our employees on the different services our company offers. Everything from social media and search engine optimization to pay per click and analytics. A few weeks ago, search engine optimization was the topic so the questioner found an interesting and rather thought-provoking question from SEOmoz.

Tip of the week: Google URL Builder

Google Analytics is more that just a reporting tool. Analytics can supply you with valuable, actionable data regarding adjustments you could make to your website and campaigns to improve conversions. If tagged correctly, you can quantify investments not only in PPC and SEO, but in your email and display campaigns by utilizing the Google URL Builder. This tool allows you to track from all areas that you pay to direct traffic to your site. Not only is this an essential piece for reporting, but also allows you to monitor cause and effect.

Response to Google’s Conversion Rate by Position

Response to Google’s Conversion Rate by Position

Google recently posted a blog stating that there is very little variation in conversion rates by position for the same ad. For example, if an ad had a 1.0% conversion rate in the best position, it would have about 0.95% in the worst position for page one results. I disagree with this statement. Through the use of Google Analytics, I would like to state that in many cases (two different, anonymous clients) this is not the case.

Tip of the Week: Building Mobile Lists

One of the most prominent ways to utilize mobile marketing is the use of short message services, or SMS.  This aspect of mobile marketing offers yet another avenue to reach your targeted demographic and with over 258 million wireless lines in the United States alone, this avenue should be a prime target.
