Drinking the Google Kool Aid

Drinking the Google Kool Aid

Location3 Media has been promoting and utilizing Google Analytics for a few years now and the solution has been a great source of information for a majority of our client base. We certainly haven’t missed the expensive paid tools that were typically implemented inproperly and didn’t provide any real value.

As we take the time to look over every piece of our marketing programs I am personally beginning to fall off the Google Analytics bandwagon in favor of (GULP) Yahoo’s product, formerly known as Index tools.

Take a read over this great comparison between GA and YWA, perhaps slightly biased but good info none the less.

The next step internally is to do the same type of side by side testing between the two offerings and develop some of our own conclusions. So I guess I’m not drinking the Kool Aid any longer…. Any insight from any readers out there?

    Hi Alex,

I use both of the services and I have to agree that Yahoo Web Analytics rocks big time.

I find YWA very customizable and I love the real time tracking… However it still lacks features I use on a daily bases in Google Analytics like pivoting, intelligence and different goal types. I find the segmentation feature in Google Analytics easier to use as well.

In my opinion they are both great solutions.
