How the Mayday Update has affected SEO

It’s a fairly well known that Google updates it’s algorithm on a more than regular basis, somewhere between 350 and 500 times in a given year. Most of these tweaks are too small to be noticed, but sometimes an update is big enough to cause a commotion, even warrant a catchy name. Most recently, the “Mayday” Update that took place in the last week of April. From what SEO’s have speculated and Google has partially confirmed, the shift is putting more emphasis on higher quality websites and pages when ranking for long tail phrases, which typically accounts for a high percentage of a site’s traffic.

Meet the Authors: Angie Pascale, Communications Manager

Welcome to the last edition of our “Meet the Authors” series. Over the past several months, we’ve featured every employee of Location3 Media that contributes to expertSEM on a frequent basis. I have been putting off the edition about myself because it just feels awkward. (Or maybe I was saving the best for last! I’ll let you decide.) Seriously though, as a PR person, I’m used to writing about and speaking for everyone else. But I guess it’s time to reveal myself! So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce…me! Hi. I’m Angie Pascale. I handle public and social media relations for Location3 and oversee our client’s social media programs. I started at Location3 in December of 2006 as a copywriter, but quickly added PR and marketing tasks to my work load. Due to my experience managing social media programs for Location3 and local advertising organizations (and just geeking out about the industry in general), I took on social media responsibilities early this year. Before joining Location3, I worked at a boutique public relations firm in Los Angeles and I received my bachelor’s in English from Penn State. Check out some of my other blog posts, and enjoy this sneak peek into my life.

Day 1 as a Marketing Intern

Written by Nicole | May 24th, 2010 |

I arrive way too early, just as you do for all new jobs and interviews. So I grab a coffee across the street and wait until I am acceptably early and walk in to Location 3 Media for my first day as a marketing intern.

Mobile Demographics – Tip of the Week

Mobile Demographics – Tip of the Week

This week’s tip is really simple. Before diving into mobile, you need to determine two things – 1) is your target audience using mobile and if so, 2) how are they using it. Do they only make phone calls? Do they communicate by text message? Do they surf the web or play with apps? Do they only use iPhone or Android? Are they outside of the USA?
